The recent shooting in Sanford Florida raised new questions about racism. CNN journalist Anderson Cooper held a discussion about this matter and also involved Nas on the subject. When Anderson Cooper asked Nas what he would say to people that think: ‘Why is this guy talking about slavery. It’s so long ago. It’s 2013, it’s time to move on’. Nas answered:
“It’s guilt. It’s ignorance. We tend to judge each other. If I don’t know anything about you Anderson, I’m going to judge you based on a bad experience I had with another white person. If you don’t know me and you see me walking on the street with my pants hanging, you’re going to asume the worst. We need to learn how to deal with each other. America is starting to look like barbarians.”
